About the scheme
The Transport for Work Scheme will be the first pilot programme developed by On the Road Again.
It is intended to support people facing financial hardship whose employment, confirmed job opportunity or return to work depends on having access to safe and reliable transport.
Who the scheme is for
The scheme is being designed for people who:
- Are employed, have a confirmed job offer or are returning to work
- Depend on their vehicle as the only practical way to reach work
- Are experiencing genuine financial hardship
- Have a vehicle that is legal, economically repairable and suitable for continued use
- Meet the scheme’s assessment and verification requirements
What support may include
Depending on the person’s circumstances, vehicle condition and available funding, support may include:
- Preventative maintenance
- Vehicle safety checks
- Essential mechanical repairs
- Replacement of safety-related components
- Practical guidance or referral to another suitable service
How decisions will be made
Each application will be considered individually. We will assess the person’s circumstances, what is at risk, the condition and likely future reliability of the vehicle, the cost of the proposed work and the funding currently available.
Support will not be guaranteed. During the pilot stage, funding decisions will require approval from at least two trustees.
Applications are not yet open
On the Road Again is currently a charitable project in development. The Transport for Work Scheme is not yet accepting applications.
Further information, eligibility guidance and application details will be published here when the pilot is ready to begin.
